While this 1941 issue of Modern Woman Magazine (V10 n5) doesn't have the recipe or instructions for the adorable cupcakes, I'm inspired to try this with animal cookies and icing.

Is that a bunch bowl on top of a cake I see, made out of a adorably cut watermelon. I am going to have to try this, ohhhh the amazing things house wives of the 1940's could do with there leftovers!
That is a cut watermelon fruit basket on top of ice (not cake) -- because this is an "ice industry" publication ;)
