When you buy macaroni, dried beans, peas, rice, etc., take out 2 tablespoons and put in a separate jar. When you are ready to make soups, you can use this mixture without having to buy a lot of separate items, requiring too many points.
My mom always did a variation of this -- if there was a leftover amount of food that wasn't enough for a later serving of leftovers, it went into a single tupperware container in the freezer an used for a soup starter. Lay a sheet or two over the top of the food, inside the container, to cut down on freezer burn.
