In college I couldn't afford quality socks so I wanted to darn the pair I had. I also didn't have thread. So I used dental floss. When my mom saw them, she kept them. Then she bought me a new pair.

Useful advice. I have actually darned my socks in the past. They were a favorite pair so I fixed them.
